Introduction
The Department of Vascular Surgery at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, established in 2012, was the first independent vascular surgery department in Shenzhen. It serves as a Vice Chair Unit of the Vascular Surgery Divisions under the Guangdong Medical Association, Guangdong Physician Association, and Guangdong Health Management Association, as well as the Chair Unit of the Vascular Surgery Committees under the Shenzhen Medical Association, Shenzhen Physician Association, and Shenzhen Health Management Association. As one of the second-round departments introduced through Shenzhen’s“Three Renowned Programs” in Healthcare, it has received substantial financial support from the Shenzhen government. After years of development and the dedication of multiple generations, the department has become a leading vascular disease diagnosis and treatment center in Shenzhen, focusing on peripheral vascular diseases and thoracic-abdominal aortic diseases, with a specialization in minimally invasive treatments for arterial and venous diseases. It holds a nationally advanced position in clinical care, teaching, and research.
Specialty Features
The Department of Vascular Surgery operates one outpatient consultation room, along with a dedicated cosmetic treatment room. It offers subspecialty clinics for venous diseases, arterial diseases, and anticoagulation therapy jointly managed by physicians and pharmacists. The inpatient ward spans approximately 700 square meters, with 40 beds and access to four operating rooms: hybrid, open, interventional, and day surgery rooms.
Equipped with advanced devices such as a new-generation ring laser venous treatment device, radiofrequency venous treatment device, AngioJet mechanical thrombectomy system, and TurboHawk atherectomy system for lower extremity arterial plaque, the department can perform comprehensive diagnostic, laboratory, and treatment services for vascular diseases. Its subspecialties include peripheral venous diseases, peripheral arterial diseases, thoracic-abdominal aortic diseases, vascular malformations, vascular tumors, vascular access for hemodialysis, and lymphedema.
The department is particularly skilled in minimally invasive cosmetic treatment for varicose veins, comprehensive treatment for deep vein thrombosis, endovascular procedures for lower extremity arterial occlusive disease, endovascular repair for thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections, comprehensive treatment for carotid artery stenosis, and sclerotherapy for vascular malformations.
